As good as Sanaa Lathan is as an actress, her character was not developed enough for me to care whether she lived or died, I was actually hoping to see her spine ripped out of her body and whipped around like a cat O nine tails and jammed into her big mouth...but alas...bad writing. She wins for most annoying actress of the decade. The only heart that movie was missing was hers...on a predator spear!

While I still don't think Paul Anderson's AVP was as dreadful as some things (I'll take it over any Michael Bay film), I do hope that the Strauss Bros do what they are saying which is taking the film back to both franchises roots. Hell I'd choose Paul Anderson's AVP over ANY movie by PT Anderson..or Wes Anderson. You are of course entitled to your opinion but PT Anderson in my books is one of the great new American directors. Magnolia, Boogie Nights and Punch Drunk Love were all great films with an amazing attention to the craftmanship of filmmaking that is sadly missing in many films today. well...I was mostly joking, but do feel PT Anderson is stunningly over-rated. Boogie Nights was an insane mess, Anderson's style/technique just cribbed from the Scorsese playbook, including the hilarious ending, taking Raging Bull's ending and slapping on a fake schlong. I think in some manner it was intended to be an homage to Scorsese, but just comes off as flashy "hey-look-I'm-trying-to-be-an-important-director". It still amazes more really haven't caught on that it's just a Scorsese pastiche with no style or craft of it's own. I did give the guy another chance with Magnolia, but after watching 75 minutes had to just stop the DVD , being turned off by the sheer self indulgence and audacity. His new film, the Upton Sinclair piece, IS interesting and will be something to check out, but reading reviews over at the idiot shrine of Aint-It-Cool calling it the second coming of filmmaking is going a bit far. But back on topic, Tyler is good

I guess it's not bad to emulate that kind of director though if you had to cite someone's movies as a source for your inspiration. The new film does look interesting. I like PT Anderson's writing abilities too. I always thought his dialogue was really very reality based yet still very metaphorical. As for Tyler, I think between him and Giacchino (and Shearmur) the future of film scoring doesn't look so bleak, I was really bummed for Tyler when they got Klaus Badelt to replace much of what he did on Constantine.
